ADD Motorsports racer Lando Norris made it two wins from two as he put on another brilliant display of speed and skill in the WSK Euro Series.
The 13-year-old Glastonbury driver was in fine form as he once again dominated the field for the majority of the weekend.
And while his closest rivals found the going tough at the Spanish circuit of Zuera, Lando ensured he kept his focus to stretch his lead at the top of the KFJ-class championship.
He said: “It was a brilliant weekend. Not only to get another win, but also because my nearest competitors in second and third place in the championship didn’t have the best of weekends so my lead overall is even bigger. We were really fast earlier in the week, but then lost some of the speed. But by the final we were almost to where we were early on, so it’s good to know we could win without being as fast as we know we can.“
During testing earlier in the week, Lando was posting lap times as fast as drivers in the KF2 class above.
But by the time it got to the warm-ups and qualifying rounds, these had started to fall due to a combination of kart and engine trouble.
However, the problems were soon rectified and Lando won all his heats and went into the final in good shape.
Lando slipped back into fifth place early on in the final and found his way through constantly blocked, but by the fifth lap he was in third and formed a breakaway group alongside Ricky Flynn Motorsport teammate Daniel Ticktum and Nikita Sitnikov.
When an opportunity presented itself at a corner, Lando pounced and slowly built up a two-kart gap.?It was a gap they never managed to close, meaning the RFM team took the top two spots and Lando made it a second win in a row in the series.
He added: “We were really, really fast in testing, it was unbelievable to be getting times as fast as the KF2 drivers. We were fast in the final, but we never really hit those speeds again, so it makes the win even better.“
Lando now heads to Genk for the first round of the Euro Max. He added: “It’s a bit of a change, but hopefully I can put in another fast performance!“
