The Andrea Margutti Trophy, race scheduled at the South Garda Karting track of Lonato for the weekend of 27-29 March that reached its 26th edition this year, still arouses a lot of interest. The entry list is shaping up and, by the looks of it, quantity and quality will not go missing as it is right for a traditional event of the likes of the race organized by Parma Karting.
With 5 days to go to the race that is part of the International ClK-FIA calendar, the entry list is getting stronger by the minute and comprises drivers coming from more than 25 countries. The most performing category, KZ2, has a lot of racers that can contest the victory as 50 drivers are ready to give their best to take the victory enriching the hall of fame of the event.
In KZ2, the 5 times world champion Davide Forè (CRG-Tm) will have to face a lot of very expert competitors as well as some very strong youngsters like Tommaso Mosca, the new entry at Maranello Kart that despite not being 15 years old yet is already very quick, or his new team mate Lorenzo Giannoni. The recent winner of the Spring Trophy in Lonato, Massimo Dante of Maranello Kart, will rightfully be among the candidates to the victory of the Andrea Margutti Trophy too. An eye will also have to be kept on Giacomo Pollini of CKR, Marco Pastacaldi (CRG-Tm) and on the Danish driver Andrea Fasberg (Tony Kart-Vortex).
In KF, the Swedish team Strakka Bahitech will have strong ambitions to take the victory as they will line up 2014 world champion Tom Joyner, on Zanardi-Tm. Team Ricky Flynn will also field a strong lineup comprising a very quick driver like the Briton Max Fewtrell. Among the candidates to the victory, Leonardo Lorandi of Baby Race, and then again the two brothers Moretti Andrea and Marco, the Swedish racer Richard Verschoor with RB Racing and the American Juan Correa with Energy.
KF Junior will have quite a packed grid too, with several top class drivers among the 40 entered so far. Team Ricky Flynn will line up several protagonists also in this category, among which the American Logan Sargeant, on FA-Vortex, who recently won the WSK Champions Cup. High expectations will also be on Lorenzo Colombo’s shoulders, on Tony Kart-Lke run by team Foco, on Alessandro Giardelli of Lario Motorsport, and on the new entries of the higher category Dmitrii Bogdanov and Nicola Abrusci of Baby Race, on the Indonesian Kush Maini of Forza Racing, as team DR led by Danilo Rossi will field a strong lineup of Russian drivers.
60 Mini is not far from reaching its target number of entrants as the category reserved to the very young drivers has 37 entered drivers out of the allotted 45. Among the others, team AB Motorsport, Serafini Racing, the newly born Evokart, and the “armies” of Gamoto and Baby Race are ready for the challenge. As usual, the competition will be tight and the victory will most likely be decided at the photo-finish. Among the “big” names of the category, Leonardo Marseglia (CRG, Gamoto Racing), Giuseppe Fusco (Tony Kart, Baby Race) and Tommaso Chiappini (Formula K, Serafini Racing), that are among the main protagonists of this early part of the season.
The sporting programme will begin on Thursday 26 March with free practice that will also continue on Friday 27. Qualifying practice and heats will then follow on Saturday 28 March, while second chance races, finalists presentation, Prefinals, Finals and Prize Ceremonies will close the event on Sunday 29 March.
