There were 12 laps of the Micro MAX final for the 36 youngest drivers of the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals 2021 in Bahrain driving their Birel ART chassis.
Nikita Ljubimov (EST) made another good start and was already distancing the field led by Zdenek Babicek (CZE). Manuel Miguez Gayoso (ESP) was 3rd ahead of Kenzo Craigie (GBR) and Dragos Avasilcutei (AUT). Zain Elhommossany (AER) came back very strongly from the back of the grid with 13 places gained in two laps. Babicek took the lead, followed by Gayoso and Ljubimov from the 3rd lap. The top six drivers were very close together and there was no lack of attacks. Ljubimov took the lead in front of Gayoso and Craigie. Albert Friend (GBR) was back in the top five ahead of Babicek. Craigie disappeared on the 8th lap, the leader Ljubimov gained distance from Gayoso followed by Babicek and the chasing group. The battle for 3rd place was going to be hot. Avasilcutei took an option on the podium by passing Babicek. Ljubimov finished 2,2” ahead of Gayoso, Avasilcutei secured 3rd place 3” ahead of Ainis Vibriantis (LTU) then Alexis Baillargeon (CAN) and Babicek. Elhommossany reached the top 10 after a rise of 22 places.
