Nine French drivers are racing this weekend in Sweden in all three categories of the World meeting at Kristianstad. The track is not without its problems for those who are learning its intricacies. The grip conditions seem to vary from one moment to another depending on sunlight, wind and a hint of black magic. The performances from free practice weren’t confirmed in qualifying practice, one way or the other.
In the World Championship for KZ Jérémy Iglesias (Sodi / TM) took over the tricolor torch with his excellent 5th fastest time, 0.143” from pole, while Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG / TM) and Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM), respectively 11th and 12th, failed to repeat their lap times from free practice.
Tom Leuillet (Sodi / TM), pictured above, was the fastest of the French drivers in the International Super Cup for KZ2 with 9th lap among the 88 drivers. After a complicated free practice, Paolo Besancenez (Tony Kart / Vortex) regained its footing at the right time by taking 11th in official qualifying. He had the potential to do much better, but a problem with his display distracted him on his last fast lap. The situation is more complex for Nicolas Picot (Tony Kart / Vortex) with 50th ahead of Felix Sandin (Tony Kart / Vortex), a Swede currently resident in France. Alexandre Arrue (Righetti / TM) was disappointed with his 56th time.
Finally, Thomas Mialane was ranked 9th in the Academy Trophy qualifying by 3 tenths from pole, while Thomas Imbourg finished 19th by less than 5/10.
We can expect exciting qualifying heats as well as some changes, especially as rain could change things with brief showers still possible.
