The 13-year-old Slovakian Dominik Goldschmied lined up for the first time this year in international competition in the KF-Junior category. The challenge was difficult for a driver who had only just started in karting after a single domestic season in 60 Mini. To put the odds on his side, Dominik trusted the experience of the Official Energy Corse team, which guaranteed that he would have some of the best equipment at his disposal. Michele Panigada, the founder of Energy, used his vast knowledge of racing and the many successes of the brand at the highest level.
The 2015 season was devoted to learning from international competition. Dominik started to learn new circuits driving a kart much faster than his old 60 Mini, while getting used to very lively packs in KF-Junior. With so many new parameters to integrate at once, the goal was not to aim for victory. The young driver bravely made his debut in a category already dominated by very sharp competitors with long experience. Increasing his speed and qualifying for the finals were his main objectives.
Dominik was able to fulfil his aim several times. He finished 31st at the second round of the WSK Champions Cup at La Conca and took 27th place in the Trofeo delle Industrie in Lonato. Near the top 10 in the qualifying stages of the Rok Cup International Final, he raced in the final despite several skirmishes. But his best result of the year undoubtedly remains his 3rd place during the Bridgestone Super Cup in Lonato. “Dominik has always shown great determination throughout this difficult season,” commented Michele Panigada. “We must not forget that it was only his second year of karting and all his adversaries were much more experienced. A busy schedule allowed him to enrich his experience and firmly prepare for his future. Performance and racecraft progressed well. There may be more flattering results in 2016.“
Dominik has already begun preparations for the coming season with Energy Corse. The engine regulations have changed and he will line up in OK-Junior with higher ambitions at the first meeting of 2016.
