The racing line had dried significantly at the start of the last final, that of DD2, but rain was still threatened and there were still wet areas. Wet tyres were needed. Several drivers were delayed in a crash at the first corner, and Sean Babington led from Jordan Boys, Ben Cooper and Bradley Liebenberg. Jules Bollier was 11th, Maxime 14th Gravouille and Alexandre Anstett 16th. The gaps were small between the top three on the second lap. Babington got away but Cooper attacked Boys. Suddenly the rain fell hard. Bollier was up to 8th position, followed by Anstett and Gravouille before he dropped to the depths of the rankings.
Now the second, Cooper was 1” off Babington. Both drivers were lapping in the same time, but the British was more consistent than the Canadian. Fred Woodley captured fourth position, more than 6” behind the leader. At the halfway point, Babington seemed solidly in the lead with an advance that was increasing against Cooper. Rasmus Markkanen moved into the top five on lap 12, followed by Shaun Slavin. Anstett was still 8th and Gravouille 9th, before launching an attack on Liebenberg and Slavin to go 6th.
The difference was stable at around 1.6” between the top two. Gravouille in turn passed Liebenberg and Slavin, to take seventh position. Babington increased the pace at the finish, just to show who was boss. He won the race impeccably with 2.2” ahead of Cooper. Boys was still 3rd, Woodley 4th, Markkanen 5th, Anstett 6th, Gravouille 7th and Slavin 8th. Bollier was unable to recover, he was ranked 29th.
