Cristiano Morgado (South Africa) didn’t let anyone steal the show in the first qualifying session for DD2 Master. He posted a lap of 55”947 on the second lap and would not be beaten. Adam Hunter (Australia) and Antii Ollikainen (Finland) fought behind him, followed later by Tommy Helfiger (Germany) and Jeremiah Charon (France). Charly Hipp (France) was doing well in 8th position. The times didn’t often improve later in the session. Hunter was second by 0.118”, Ollikainen 3rd by 0.275”, Helfinger 4th by 0.356″ and Charon 5th by 0.362”.
The fast times took longer to come in the second group. Not until the third lap for Martin Pierce (Ireland) did they get closer to 56”. Matelic Primoz (Slovenia) then took the lead, Tiffany Chittenden (New Zealand) was 3rd from Mikko Laine (Finland) and Javier Campo (Spain). Laine took first position on lap 7, but they were still far away from Morgado’s time. Christophe Adams (Belgium) was 7th, and Florent Lambert (France) 9th. The classification showed Laine as the leader with 56”187 ahead of Matelic, Pierce, Chittenden and Campo.
Morgado therefore took the pole position in front of Hunter, Laine, Matelic and Ollikainen. Charon moved up to 9th, Adams 15th, Lambert 17th, Hipp 19th, and Berteaux 36th.
