Bas Lammers was satisfied after the second round of the European KZ Championship. The factory Formula K team has been working hard to provide very competitive equipment for the champion from the Netherlands while the Parilla engine, direct from the IAME factory prepared by Filippo Gaggia, gave him the necessary impetus to take top positions in a very tough competition.
The meeting took place on the winding and selective Wackersdorf circuit with variable track conditions due to the vagaries of the weather. The search for optimal grip used 100% of the skills of the technical staff at Formula K. Bas Lammers started the event with sixth in qualifying before raising the pace during the heats where he finished in the top three. Very incisive from the start of the prefinal, Bas seized command of the race from the first lap and remained dominant until the chequered flag while his opponents struggled to catch up.
The fight was more intense during the 25 lap final. Lammers gave his maximum to get closer to the leader Jonathan Thonon who had built up a gap during a skirmish between several drivers on lap 5.
“We were very close in terms of performance to Thonon and Dreezen throughout the final,” explained the Dutchman. “I stayed second for a long time, but I had to let Dreezen past after a few laps. The slightest mistake is costly on a track with many corners, and opportunities to lose a few hundredths abound. However, I am very happy to be on the third step of the podium. My victory in the prefinal proved that we are going in the right direction. The Formula K team has done a very good job! A big thank you to IAME – and Filippo, the preparer – for providing us with an effective and reliable engine. I now think I have a good chance to fight for victory in the upcoming events.“
