It’s impossible to talk about the KZ2 heats without mentioning the spectacular accident that happened in the last of the three races of the day. An ART GP lost a large amount of water – or punctured a radiator hose, we don’t yet know – on the line on lap three. The drivers who followed him lost control before hitting the barriers at full speed. The injuries were not too serious, with only Matteo Vigano laid out because of pain in the ankle. Several frames were however only good for the bin.
The race was restarted, at first under the ‘slow’ procedure, then the full restart was after the 5th lap. Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) added a third victory to his already perfect score. Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM) is in second place ahead of Rick Dreezan (Zanardi / Parilla) who recorded a good performance increase. 4th is Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex), who was pushing to make up lost time – in 10th position in the 1st heat. Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla) is in fifth position ahead of Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) and Douglas Lundberg (Alpha Karting / TM) in 7th. Davide Fore (CRG / TM) is 8th, Riccardo Romkema 9th and Jontahan Thonon (Praga / Parilla) 10th after dropping out with engine failure in race 1.
