15 laps were scheduled for the final of the first KFJ World Championship meeting at Sarno. It was quite possible it wouldn’t rain for the last race of the event, to the chagrin of those who were brilliantly fast when the track was slippery in qualifying.
Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart / Vortex) finished the first lap ahead of Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / Parilla), Sasakorn Chaimongkol (Kosmic / TM) third by a few lengths, then Daniel Ticktum (FA Kart / Vortex), Enaam Ahmed (FA Kart / Vortex), Bryan Elpitiya (Energy / TM) and Robert Shwartzman (Tony Kart / TM). Apparently pushed, Lando Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) put teammate Jehan Daruvala (FA Kart / Vortex) off the track at the first corner. Kari, Mazepin, and Lessennes had already given up, and Jules Bollier was a long way back.
There was a tight duel for the lead, and a big fight for 3rd place with the return of Shwartzman. Lorandi retook the lead on lap 6, but Pulcini was obviously faster. Ticktum was now installed in third position from fourth-placed Shwartzman then Elpitiya, Florescu, Raucci and Ahmed. Pulcini replied perfectly on lap 9 on the inside of Lorandi on the second of three tight corners. Shwartzman had taken third place from Ticktum and reeled in the two leaders. Elpitiya was losing ground without being able to fight, while Daruvala neared the top 10.
Pulcini was able to gain a small lead of about half a second on Lorandi and won a magnificent victory, Shwartzman was third, Ticktum fourth and Ahmed fifth. Although Daruvala was able to recover to 10th, Norris was out of the points in 23rd position despite having the fastest time of the race.
