The drama of the KZ2 final started as soon as they went onto the track. The first twist was that Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) could not start on the grid and had to retire due to a major technical problem. Bas Lammers (Praga / Parilla) started first, while Riccardo Negro (DR / TM) fought against Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla). Joel Johansson (Energy / TM) made a great start and took fourth ahead of the incredible Maxime Roy (Tony Kart / TM) in fifth.
Hajek needed a few laps to defeat Negro and try to catch the leader, and we learned that a penalty of 10” was given to the two top drivers at Praga, Daniele Delli Compagni, Marcel Muller (CRG / TM), then 5th and 6th, and two other competitors for jumping the start. It is true that their karts had moved slightly on the grid although without any advantage, but the rule is strictly enforced by the WSK. Hajek returned to threaten Lammers, but was still too far away to really threaten.
Roy continued to have a great race, even passing the three CRGs. He was finally ranked 6th and the 1st French driver, a nice reward for the driver and his team Cedric Sport. After a less complicated start, Sauro Cesetti (Top Kart / Parilla) returned strongly to seventh place. Thomas Letailleur (GP Racing / TM) successfully returned to competition with a ninth position promising good results next year.
