Max Defourny joined the Belgian team VDK Racing behind the wheel of a Kosmic/Parilla during the last round of the WSK Euro Series, on the circuit of Zuera which soon will also host the World Cup for KF3. It did not take long for the alchemy between the young driver and his new kart to emerge, under the glaring sun of the Spanish track.
After a 9th time in his timed qualifying series, just 0.2 seconds behind the lead group, Max gained positions in 3 out of 4 of his heats, conquering from 4 to 10 places. Stopped by an incident in the second heat, he was also handed a 10-second penalty in the last heat, which made his job in the pre-final a bit more complicated. Again, he regained the lost ground, but his performance was no longer as good and he missed the qualification for the final.
But the young Belgian driver’s performances have been very convincing, considering that it was his first time with his new kart. Tests scheduled by the end of September are aimed to enable him to compete in the World Cup under the best possible conditions.
