With a fifth in a heat, Briton Sean Babington lost his leading position to his compatriot Ben Cooper. Both drivers have each won two qualifying heats, but Babington’s victory should be in the race when the two favorites clashed.
Several drivers are very close in performance including the consistent David Sera (Australia), Andy King (UK) and Hirotaka Sasaki (Japan). Edward Brand was doing well on power. He will start seventh in pre-final. Both winners of a heat, the Polish driver Karol Dabski and Austrian Stefan Riener each experienced a racing incident and were demoted respectively to 10th and 13th positions.
Alexander Finkelstein qualified in 21st position, up from 37th in qualifying. Here he was more comfortable behind the wheel of the Sodi provided in this category. Despite a fine fifth place in a heat, Nicolas Picot will go through the repechage after having been a victim of clashes at the start.
