Matthew Graham (Zanardi) and Leo Roussel (Sodi) began the first qualifying session at Sarno in the U18 with the knife between his teeth. Tomi Katajamäki (Maranello) and Jiri Forman (MS Kart) followed up behind Graham setting the fastest times. Next Sam Webster (Top Kart) came second to Pyry Ovaska (Maranello), but soon Roussel took 3rd place. Graham ended up a long way ahead of the rest with 1.07.660, more than three tenths from Roussel, Katajamäki in 3rd, then Webster, and Ville Mäntylä (Energy) in 5th.
Henry Easthope (Sodi) opened the second session with 1.08.858 from Martin Mortensen (Mach 1) and Federico Savona (Top Kart) who closed on Easthope while second improved each time and closed the session with a reference time of 1.08 .097. Jorge Vinolo Zalduegui (Tecno) took over second by 1 tenth, followed by Lucas Speck (Mach 1) by 3 / 10 from the pole sitter. Savona was fourth, Toni Alarcon (Righetti) fifth.
Jules Gounon (Sodi) set the first significant time in the third and final session and improved on the next lap to John Barbe (Tecno) and Anthoine Hubert (Sodi). Stefan Riener (Intrepid) took over and fought against Hubert. Antonio Giovinazzi (PCR) was ready for a fight and was the first under 1’08 ahead of Marco Maestranza (PCR). Giovinazzi improved on the first sector of the last lap, but didn’t go better than his 1.07.979, by 2 / 10.
Graham took to the pole in front of Giovinazzi and Roussel. Easthope was ranked fourth, Hubert 5th and Maestranza 6th.
