The first lap of the pre-final in KZ2 was led by Hanssen from Habulin, Zanchetta, and Torsellini. Federer spun, Zanchetta dropped out of second after a crash with Torsellini who was sixth. This was an advantage for Meindorfer and Weber, third and fourth. Habulin then gave up second place to Meindorfer, and Johansson was back in fourth position ahead of Weber, Torsellini by 1.6” and 2” from Midrla. The fastest time went to Zanchetta in depths of his 29th position, then to Torsellini, in 6th.
Hanssen was a little threatened when his pursuers attacked Meindorfer and Johansson for second place. Weber fought against Habulin for fourth position and then back in the wake of Meindorfer in third. Johansson was now close to Hanssen. Torsellini experienced a mechanical problem and retired (the problem of speed), as did Johansson (engine) on the next lap. Hanssen was assured of victory, Weber did not attack Meindorfer for second place, Habulin took fourth and Midrla fifth. Zanchetta returned to 21st, but it will be difficult in the final, Johansson is 29th and Torsellini 30th also lost a lot in the pre-final.
