A success at the Monaco Kart Cup is always something more than a simple victory. The prestigious setting, the numerous public, the gratification of a title conquered there, the evident reference to F1, the difficult track and the high-level competition are as many criteria that render the Monegasque meeting a unique event. And if that was not challenging enough, the rain came to disrupt the final part of the 2010 edition.
In these conditions, where difficulties were the norm, Norman Nato triumphed with style on his CRG/Maxter KZ2 despite all the adversities. «I am desperately short of racing practice in karting this year due to my season in car racing», the driver from Côte d’Azur explained. «But it did not take me long to feel comfortable again on my CRG, thanks to Arnaud Kozlinski’s good advice…»
Already 4th in timed qualifying, Nato raised the tone during the qualifying heats with two victories and two best lap times during the race. Second on the start grid of final after a pre-final interrupted by a heavy shower of rain, it just took him three laps to take the lead again on wet tyres, on a track were the grip was still poor. Grip conditions changed towards the end of the race, but Nato managed to control his opponents effortlessly until the end of the race. A great victory against the world’s best specialists that makes him want to continue his karting career, on a CRG of course!
