Beitske Visser had a black weekend in Portimao, Portugal, at the first meeting of the new WSK World Series. In fact, her disappointment came from the “equipment” side of competition, because Beitske showed again her great level of performance. 4th best lap time in timed qualifying, finishing little more than a tenth of a second behind Jontathan Thonon (the three-time winner of the KZ1 World Cup), best lap time in the first heat, when her chassis had already been damaged by a collision at the start: she was in on it, no doubt about that.
That accident disrupted the rest of her races. She was forced to use her spare chassis, which proved to be far less effective on the very fast track of Portimao. The job done by the team increased her hopes for a significant recovery in the final race, but this time it was a mechanical problem that left her stranded at the start of the race. Always very much at ease with more experienced drivers than her, Beitske will be able to take her chance at next WSK World Series meeting in Millville (USA), in just a few weeks’ time.
