The title was not yet decided in Super KF at the start of the final. Armand Convers was 28 points ahead of Nyck De Vries, who also started on the front row To be crowned Nyck had to win, which was not impossible, or finish ahead of his opponent, but with several drivers between them. For its part, Convers just had to finish ahead of De Vries or just behind him. The Pace-Car went out on track to put on a show in front of the cameras of Rai Sport 2.
It was a great start for De Vries despite being on the outside of the track. Convers held second position, third was Kozlinski ahead of Ardigo and Groman. Convers was not going to let the Netherlands miracle escape. The gap ws reduced from the second lap. Camponeschi lost a lot of time, and was 23rd and last on the track. De Vries replied with the fastest time of the moment. Ardigo rebounded and took Kozlinski for third place, while Cooper, now fifth, set off in pursuit of Koko and Ardigo.
The gap stabilized at around 3 / 10 between the two protagonists in the lead. The race was long: would there be a strategy from the Kosmic in 2nd? The fastest lap went alternately to the Dutchman and Frenchman. Vigano retired on the sixth of the 18 laps of the final. Kozlinski lost a bit from Ardigo, but not significantly, and Cooper did not really close on the CRG. There was little direct fighting in the front. Catt overtook Groman, who was now in 6th.
De Vries led by 5 / 10 from Convers followed by Ardigo at between 2.5” and 3”, Kozlinski by 7 / 10, Cooper by 6 / 10, Catt by 3.2”… There has rarely been such a calm Super KF final. Is this due to the presence of television crews? The last lap finally arrived. Unsurprisingly the victory went to Nyck De Vries and the championship as expected and deserved to Armand Convers on the Kosmic!
