Formula Kart Stars have announced they will be postponing their 2009 International series until 2010. Despite showing promise, commitments to WSK, GPO and other championships means major teams couldn’t fit the championship into their schedule. However their appears to be much enthusiasm for the 2010 series.
“We have postponed our international series until 2010. When, as Stars of Tomorrow, we planned our European series in August 2008 we had seen it as a low key English, French, Belgium championship that would compliment our British series and to be aimed primarily at the British competitor.
However, after the momentous happenings in February when the Championship was renamed and adopted by Mr Ecclestone and supported by FOM the Formula Kart Stars European series goals changed and our aim is for an international series. Unfortunately the dates we chose in August 2008 are not compatible with the 2009 CIK international calendar and despite a willingness to support us, the International Karting scene has commitments that cannot be altered in 2009.
Having canvassed the opinions of all the major teams, manufacturers and players within the world of karting who are enthusiastic about a fully fledged international series backed by Formula 1, it has been decided to postpone in order to prepare and restructure for this new international series in 2010?
