The troubled start of the KF3 prefinal was particularly expensive for Mathieu Jaminet, who was 4th on the grid and had ambitions for a good result … But he was struck by a kart that literally flew over him, Oscar Tunjo, who was in a group of young drivers who were pushing a little to hard. The crash involved a dozen karts. Mathieu was lucky to come out of it with only an injury to his arm. He was not sure whether he could take the start of the final.
Danil Kvyat then settled into 1st position to Carlos Sainz and Guilherme Silva. The Tony Kart / Vortex drivers went all the way running wheel to wheel without varying their positions. Raffaele Marciello, who avoided the big crash at the start, came on form and was already 4th on the 5th lap. Behind him, Nyck De Vries bided his time to capture that place on the final lap. Alexander Albon made a good move back into 6th after his start from 21st place. Mikko Pakari finally overtook Gustavo Menezes who tried to resist but in vain.
