Good starts for Ardigo and Nolé on the front row, while Bailly lost a little time at the first corner. Cesetti quickly despatched Dreezen for 3rd position. Varutti was a fraction back in 4th, ahead of Mich, and Nolé and Dreezen lost some ground. Nato was running in the top 7, followed by Kozlinski and Bailly.
From lap 5, Koko seemed to have found his full power and moved to the head of the race. Also Thonon came up from 13th and was also on explosive form. He passed Forè to gain 7th place, while Koko took second place from Cesetti who took him back swiftly.
Mich was comfortably placed in second position ahead of Cesetti. Thonon was clearly the fastest and nobody resisted him. He overcame Koko, then Cesetti on the inside of the left harpin after the start-line. Mich could not resist this hurricane for long. Thonon was now second. Ardigo, however, was far ahead and there were only less than 5 laps left.
Koko’s machine was now on form and he used it’s benefits to pass Cesetti and attack Mich. Forè in 6th followed the battles without being able to actually participate, and Dreezen was isolated in 7th position. Nato took the advantage in a group also including Abbasse, Bailly and Toninelli. Two laps from the end, Thonon was on Ardigo’s bumper. Urged on by his mechanics, the attack by the Belgian was unstoppable. At the same time Kozlinski struck on an opening left by Mich. Thonon took an unexpected victory after the problems he encountered in the heats. It looks like there will be a tremendous duel in the final, where we must not forget the Frenchman Koko, who is also in the running.
