Petri Suvanto is the new driver bearing Tony Kart Racing Team colours in the KF2 class for the forthcoming season.
The young Finn will go down to the track next week on the occasion of the official WSK tests, from 24th to 26th January, taking place on Muro Leccese track. This first green début will immediately enable Petri to familiarize with the team and the kart with which he is going to face the 2008 season.
The news of the signing of a second Scandinavian driver, after Laine in the KF1 category, has been welcomed by the whole Racing Team with enthusiasm, the arrival of Suvanto is another excellent choice made by the Tony Kart staff.
The Finn from Nurmo is a driver, who already proved to have a great and important potential during the former season, always racing at the top and leading the International races in the KF3 class.
Giacomo Aliprandi – Team Manager Tony Kart Racing Team
“Petri Suvanto has already had an International experience, in the KF3 class, which will for sure help him during this important season. This year he is going to race in a new team and in a category, the KF2 class, which is more powerful compared to the one in which he already proved to have great potential. We are confident he will race well and we will grant him all the support he needs, so that he will be able to exploit his talent at his best.”

When did you start racing karts ?
“My dad bought my first go-kart when I was four years old and I did my first race at five years old.”
What do you think about your last karting season ?
“Last season I had some good points with victories in the International Open Masters and WSK, I gained the fastest lap in the European Championship but I was expecting more and I feel I could have gained better results. I think I was a little bit too tall for the KF3 class and this caused some problems, but I always did my best. I had a quite difficulty season and maybe because of that I learnt a lot and that’s important.”
What are your aims in your sporting career ?
“I try to go forward year by year and just do my best, but my biggest dream and aim is to become F1 World Champion one day in the future.”
In which way are you preparing for the next 2008 season ?
“Since my last race in September I have had a quite long break and during this break I have been exercising a lot. I tested Tony Kart just one day in the end of November and I instantly adapted myself to the kart and the feeling was very positive. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel again. I feel confident about 2008 and I’m glad to be part of such succeeded team as Tony Kart Racing Team. I believe we will make good results in the KF2 class together with my team-mate Oliver.”
