27/07/11 In Continuous Evolution
CRG RACING TEAM - World Karting Championship - Zuera

The CRG team moved to the Spanish circuit of Zuera to remain there for several days, given the two major events in quick succession planned in its racing calendar. Before the WSK Euro Series final round, to be held on 29, 30 and 31 July 2011, there were the second round of the World KF1 Championship and the European KF2-KF3 Championships to animate the world of karting the previous weekend. Max Verstappen and Felice Tiene performed outstandingly in KF3 and in KF1 respectively, came very close to a podium finish and proved once more that CRG and Maxter remain at the top internationally thanks to the continuous technical evolution of the Italian products...

A number of chassis brands manufactured by the CRG factory left their stamp on the European KF2 & KF3 Championships at Zuera. Evidently CRG did not want to be outdone, especially in KF3 with Max Verstappen. The Dutch karter was one of the most brilliant in qualifying. Forced to start from the 7th row after a difficult timed qualifying session, he showed some superb passing. Climbing to 3rd, 2nd, 1st and 7th in succession, and not without posting the fastest lap in the race, he secured a place on the first outside row of the pre-final grid. But then he was crashed into on the second bend and was knocked down to 27th on the first passage.
He turned the following eight laps to good account to climb to 16th, posting lap times that would have certainly allowed him to win this first major challenge. "I sincerely believe that the podium was still accessible. In the final, I was indeed 9th after the first lap when a driver sent me spinning by hitting me from behind. I concluded with a 14th place and a lot of regrets because victory was really within my reach!" commented Max.

A lot less experienced, Japanese Jinya Yamakawa made great progress during his European experience with CRG, just like Italian karter Giovanni Martinez and French driver Nicolas Gonzales in KF2.

KF1: Two Top 5 for Tiene

After a good first round in Germany, where Felice Tiene put in some excellent recovery drives, the Italian driver took an important step forward in Spain, at the World KF1 Championship. "The team found some excellent technical solutions for the very difficult Zuera circuit. As far as I am concerned, I gave my maximum to achieve the best possible result", commented Felice.
In Race 1, Tiene drove his way through from 10th, which he occupied on the first lap, to 5th ! At the wheel of his CRG-Maxter, he kept his momentum in Race 2. After a long battle with the leaders, Tiene conquered the 4th place, at the foot of the podium, and what matters most, with times matching those of the leaders. Meanwhile his team mate Laura Tillett made herself noticed by climbing from 24th up to 12th.
For CRG, proving the competitiveness of its products in each race remains definitely the priority...

CRG in the Run for 3 Titles!

Winners of the WSK Euro Series in 2010, Jonathan Thonon (KZ1) and Max Verstappen (KF3) will look to defend their crowns on 31 July in Zuera, at the final round of this prestigious Championship. Another CRG driver, Mirko Torsellini (KZ2), has a few chances too to conquer the title and he is determined to win on his Spanish weekend. The CRG team will definitely not lack motivation in Zuera!
