The first round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series saw 85 drivers compete in the OK category. The first of the four timed sessions got underway under partly cloudy skies with a temperature of 12°C on a dry track for the new Maxxis tyres.
Group 1: Ramaekers – 53”026
Davide Bottaro (CRG/Iame) was ahead of Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame) on the second lap. Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) set the fastest time – 53”026 – on lap 3, 66 thousandths ahead of Iglesias. Jakub Kamenik (Tony Kart/TM) was a close 3rd. Bottaro finished 4th, 2 tenths behind, followed by Tiziano Monza (Tony Kart/Vortex) in 5th. Joe Turney (KR/Iame) was 9th, Adam Rahali (KR/Iame) 11th and Hugo Martiniello (CRG/Iame) 16th.
Group 2: Drummond – 52”991
Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) was in the lead on lap 2 ahead of Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM) and Zack Drummond (Parolin/TM). The Scotsman then took provisional pole in 52”991, a tenth ahead of Eyckmans. Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) was 3rd, ahead of David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Markas Silkunas (CRG/Iame). Bondarev was 6th, Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) 8th ahead of Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Salim Hanna (LN/TM). Tom Dussol (CRG/Iame) finished 13th, Jimmy Hélias (KR/Iame) 15th and Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/Vortex) 17th.
Group 3: Monteiro – 53”150
Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) jumped into the lead on the first lap and confirmed his position on the second lap ahead of Noah Montero (KR/Iame) and Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame). Monteiro finished with the fastest time of 53’150, 9 thousandths ahead of Matveev, followed by Gomez in 3rd place 35 thousandths behind. Luna Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame) was 4th and Alp Askoy (Parolin/TM) 5th.
Group 4: Khavalkin – 53”058
Jindrich Pesl (CRG/TM) was already very fast on the first lap, but Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) took the lead on the second lap and stayed there with a time of 53’058, a tenth ahead of Pesl. Noah Wolfe (Birel ART/TM) finished 3rd at 0.183” ahead of Elliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/TM) and Fionn McLaughlin (KR/Iame).
