The weather was fine and cold (3°C) on Sunday morning in Lonato for the Mini U10 Prefinals of the first round of the WSK Super Master Series.
Prefinal A: Nellegard wins hands down
Carl Nellegard (Tony Kart/TM) started from pole position. He was immediately threatened by Mason Robertson (Parolin/Iame), with Senn Lindeman (Birel ART/TM) 3rd ahead of Xavier Lazaro (DR/TM). Nellegard gradually pulled away from his rivals, with Lindeman and Robertson battling it out for 2nd place, relegated by 1.5″. Lucas Palacio (KR/Iame) was back in 3rd and Jean Poujol (Parolin/Iame) moved up into the top 10. A solid leader, Nellegard continued to extend his lead with a series of fastest times. He won by almost 4” ahead of Palacio, with Robertson hot on his heels. Mark Loomets (Energy/TM) finished 4th, Lindeman 5th ahead of Leon Chelidze (KR/Iame) and Lazaro, then Poujol 8th.
Prefinal B: Perico despite Kostrzewa
Niccolo Perico (Energy/TM) started in the lead, with David Moscardi (Birel ART/TM) and Blazev Kostrzewa (Parolin/Iame) hot on his heels. Alexander Lazarus (KR/Iame) was 4th and Achille Rea (Tony Kart/Vortex) 5th. At the front, the duel was becoming clearer between Perico and Kostrzewa, who took the lead halfway through the race. Lorenzo Di Pietrantonio (Parolin/Iame) was very fast and managed to move up to 4th position after a slow start. Perico regained the lead on the eighth lap and narrowly beat Kostrzewa. Moscardi finished 3rd, Di Pietrantonio 4th and Rea 5th.
