It rained for a while at the start of the OK-Junior Final of the 2nd round of the WSK Euro Series in Sarno. Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) was hot on the heels of Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) on the first lap, followed by Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) and David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame). Martinese took the lead on the second lap, overtaking Schaufler. Filippo Sala (LN/TM) then moved up to 4th ahead of Cosma Cristofor. Costoya attacked Schaufler, who was clearly not at ease with his kart, to take 2nd place 1.6″ behind the leader. Schaufler regained his form from lap five onwards and attacked Costoya, who spun after contact, but managed to finish 5th. Martinese had a lead of more than 2.5″ at the halfway stage, but Schaufler did his utmost to reduce the gap. With two laps to go, 1.2″ separated the two drivers. Meanwhile, Costoya had managed to get back to 4th ahead of Roman Kamyab (LN/TM). Martinese accelerated to protect himself from Schaufler’s comeback. The Italian won the race and took the championship. Schaufler finished P2 ahead of Sala, but dropped back to 3rd following a penalty for his attack on Costoya. Kamyab finished 4th and Saleh 5th. Costoya dropped back to 13th following a penalty for pushing two karts in front of him.
