Saturday got off to a sunny start in Cremona for the OK Super Heats of the fourth round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, with temperatures of 25°.
Super Heat 1: Superb performance from Lammers
Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) maintained his lead over Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Rene Lammers (Parolin/TM) was 3rd ahead of David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) and then Fionn McLaughlin (KR/Iame). Lammers quickly took 2nd position, 8 tenths behind Coluccio, and worked hard to reduce the gap to the leader. Lammers made the connection four laps later and Coluccio reacted. Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM), who had started well, had lost ground in 11th position. Kirill Kutskov (KR/Iame) was back in the top five ahead of McLaughlin. Lammers pulled off a superb overtake on Coluccio on the 11th of the 16 laps. Andrea Dupé (KR/Iame) had made up 14 places to 21st. With the fastest lap, Lammers won by more than 8 tenths ahead of Coluccio, who was unbeaten until then. Pavan secured 3rd place ahead of Walther and Kutskov. Dupé finished 21st and Clément Outran (KR/Iame) 26th.
Super Heat 2: Tarnvanichkul well clear of the pack
Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame) got off to a perfect start and Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) raced into 2nd place ahead of Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame), who didn’t hesitate to attack. Like Elie Goldstein (TB Kart/Iame), Thomas Strauven (KR/Iame) had not started. Alex Powell (KR/Iame) moved up to 3rd place and Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) 5th. Tarnvanichkul had escaped more than a second ahead of his two team-mates. Iglesias tried to put pressure on Powell, but his machine seemed less effective at this stage and Stolcermanis passed him. Tarnvanichkul upped the pace at the end of the race to set the fastest lap and win 8 tenths ahead of Nakamura-Berta then Powell 3rd, Stolcermanis 4th and the incredible Iglesias Junior 5th. Disappointing race for Arthur Poulain (KR/Iame) in 27th.
Provisional results pending publication of the final rankings.
