Dutch driver Dilano van’t Hoff was 18 years old when he lost his life on Saturday 30 June 2023. He was taking part in a round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) on the Belgian circuit of Spa Francorchamps when a terrible accident occurred shortly after the raidillon de l’eau rouge, close to the place where Anthoine Hubert died in 2019. The race had just been restarted in the rain. Dilano was a team-mate of Victor Bernier in the MP Motorsport team.
Dilano van’t Hoff made his international karting debut during the 2016 season in 60 Mini. He then progressed in OK-Junior until 2018, with a 7th position in the European Championship after his victory at PFI with the Forza Racing team. Moving up to OK in 2019, still driving an Exprit/TM, he finished 5th in the WSK Euro Series, 5th in the European Championship and started from 2nd in the World Championship final at Alahärmä in Finland. The following year, he finished 4th in the Champions of the Future and ended his karting career in 14th place in the World Championship at Portimao.
He made his single-seater debut in 2021 in the United Arab Emirates F4 Championship and the Spanish F4 Championship, where he won the title, before moving to Formula Regional the following year.
His death and the circumstances of his accident caused a major stir in the sporting community, where his character and talent were much appreciated. The KSP-Kartcom team joins in the condolences that are pouring in from all sides to his family and friends.
