The conditions were good in Cremona on Sunday morning for the OK-Junior Prefinals of the last round of the WSK Super Master Series. Dry track, partly cloudy skies and 18° on the thermometer.
Prefinal A: superb victory for Sala
Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) kept the lead on the first lap while David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) dropped back to 6th. Scott Lindblom (Tony Kart/Vortex) had moved up to 2nd ahead of Noah Wolfe (Birel ART/TM). Lindblom attacked Costoya, Filippo Sala (Sodi/TM) was 3rd ahead of Wolfe. Sala took the lead on the third lap over Costoya and Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame), with Lindblom in 7th place. Sala set a series of fastest laps and increased his lead at the front of the race. Wolfe moved up to 4th ahead of Cosma Cristofor shortly before the halfway point. In 17th position, Davide Bottaro (Tony Kart/Vortex) was the fastest driver after a 12-place climb. Jack Illife (Parolin/TM) made up for his early deficit by moving up to 8th behind Murilo Da Rocha (Energy/TM). Sala was 1,3″ ahead of Costoya with two laps to go and Cosma Cristofor was back in 3rd. Sala took a fine victory 1,5” ahead of Costoya, followed by Cosma Cristofor. Martinese finished 4th and Lindblom 5th. Illife was back in 6th place ahead of Arrata Endo (Tony Kart/Vortex) who moved up eight places.
Prefinal B: Antonov makes a winning comeback
Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) had to retire on the formation lap. Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) led the race ahead of Dries van Langendonck (Energy/TM) and Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM). Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame) was back in 4th ahead of Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame). Antonov moved up to 3rd ahead of Gerasim Skulanov (Birel ART/TM) and attacked Ramaekers on lap 3 for 2nd place. Skulanov followed in 3rd place. Kit Belofski (Birel ART/TM) moved into the top five behind Ramaekers. Louis Cochet (Sodi/TM) had started well and was in 14th position with nine places gained. Van Langendonck was in the lead, but Antonov was closing in quickly. Antonov took the lead on lap 9. Vivek Kanthan (Parolin/TM) was back in the top 10 after having gained 12 places. Chiara Battig (KR/Iame) overtook Salim Hanna (LN/Vortex) in 11th position, followed by Cochet. In 5th, Schaufler was stopped by a black flag. Kanthan and Mees Houben (Tony Kart/Vortex) retired after a collision. Antonov had a lead of about 3 tenths over van Langendonck. He finally won with the fastest time. Van Langendonck lost his 2nd place because of an jump start penalty (7th). Skulanov was 2nd ahead of Ramaekers and Drummond.Cochet finished in 9th place (+14 pl).
