At Franciacorta, the duel between Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) was to come to an end in the much-anticipated KZ2 Final of the second round of the WSK Super Master Series.
Leuillet took the lead followed by Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) and Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM), with Bertuca only 4th from the outside. Palomba and Denner made contact and crashed heavily. Bertuca was 2nd, 5 tenths behind the leader, Alex Maragliano (Maranello/TM) 4th ahead of Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM), then Freddie Slater (Birel ART/TM) and Alessio Piccini (Birel ART/TM). Palomba was 12th, Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM) 28th and Denner had retired as well as Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM). Van Walstijn quickly moved up to 3rd place. Thomas Imbourg (Sodi/TM) was 6th ahead of Francesco Celenta (Parolin/TM) and Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM) 12th. Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) had dropped to 26th, but set a fastest time, while Alex Powell (KR/Iame) was 15th. At the halfway point, Leuillet had increased his lead over Bertuca to 9 tenths. Van Walstijn was closing in on 2nd place, while Slater was not far behind either. The pass took place with two laps to go, Bertuca was obviously not happy to give up his P2. Leuillet took his first major victory with the Tony Kart Racing Team. He was ahead of Bertuca after Van Walstijn’s one place penalty. Celenta climbed 9 places, Slater was 4th and top 5 ahead of Imbourg. Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM) finished 11th and Mattéo Spirgel (Sodi/TM) 12th (+8 places).
