On Sunday morning in Genk, the last two Qualifying Heats of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy sealed the positions before the Final. The weather was fine with temperatures already reaching 20°.
Heat C-D: Pohjola ahead of Go
Joel Pohjola (FIN) made an excellent start from the second row and distanced his rivals by more than a second. William Go (PHL) came back strongly in the last two laps, but finished 2nd, 2 tenths behind Pohjola. Luca Houghton (BHR) took 3rd place ahead of Markas Silkunas (LTU) and Nikolas Roos (ZAF).
Heat A-B: A second victory for Dorison
Arthur Dorison (FRA) took the lead on the second lap ahead of Guillaume Bouzar (LUX). Thibaut Ramaekers (BEL) had lost four places at the start. Dorison increased the pace again in the last two laps to ensure his victory over Bouzar. Dino Stroescu (ROU) finished 3rd ahead of Tiziano Kuzhnini (CHE) and Jindrich Pesl (CZE).
The only driver to have taken two victories, Dorison led the heats ahead of Bouzar, Go 3rd, Ramaekers 4th, Pesl 5th, then Roos 6th, Houghton 7th and Bogunovic (SVN) 8th.
The French monopolised the lead of the intermediate classifications in the three categories competing in Genk.
