In Portimão, the Qualifying Practice for the OK European Championship alternated with the OK-Junior on Friday afternoon. Overcast skies, 18° and a dry track were the order of the day for the 71 participants out of 76 entered. MG Tires provided the tyres.
Alex Powell (KR/Iame) was the fastest on the second lap in 56’167 ahead of Oscar Pedersen (Tony Kart/Vortex). Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) made progress on lap three and finished on 56’026, more than a tenth better than Pedersen. James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex) followed in 3rd place ahead of Powell, Luka Sammalisto (KR/Iame) and Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) in 6th.
Enzo Deligny (Parolin/TM) was in the lead of Session 2 on the first lap, Evan Giltaire (KR/Iame) 4th and Malo Bolliet (KR/Iame) 6th. Giltaire then took the lead ahead of Yuanpu Cui (KR/Iame) and Deligny. His second lap of 55’922 was the fastest and he took the provisional pole position. David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 2nd at 19 thousandths, then Joe Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex) 3rd, Cui 4th and Deligny 5th. Bolliet was 13th.
Adrian Malheiro (CRG/TM) was the fastest on the first lap of the third session. Hiyu Yamakoshi (IPK/TM) then took the lead with his shifted strategy. Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) took pole position – 55’908 – 65 thousandths ahead of Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex). Artem Severikhin (Tony Kart/Vortex) secured 3rd place ahead of Juho Valtanen (Tony Kart/Vortex), while Yamakoshi completed the top five ahead of Freddie Slater (LN/Vortex). Arthur Rogeon (KR/Iame) finished 12th.
