Borys Lyzen (POL) and Mateja Radenkovic (BEL) shared the front row of the Mini MAX starting grid at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in sunny and windy Bahrain.
Lyzen was fighting for the lead at lights out. Arata Endo (JPN) rushed into 2nd place, followed by Jensen Burnett (CAN). Endo took the lead on the second lap, Lyzen replied, Markas Silkunas (LTU) moved up to 4th ahead of Scott Marsh (GBR). Mathis Carnejac (FRA) was back in the top 10, Paul Grisel (FRA) had already recovered 16 places to 17th and Tom Langlois (FRA) was 24th. The battle continued at the front between Lyzen and Endo, Marsh was 3rd by more than a second, Burnett 4th and Silkunas 5th. Carnejac was in 7th place at the halfway point. The top six was formed of three duos helping each other to improve their performance. This was very effective for Marsh and Burnett who reduced the gap to the two leaders, Lyzen and Endo. Burnett attacked Marsh with two laps to go. Lyzen defended his position slightly on the last lap, but Endo managed to win by a tenth. Marsh secured 3rd place with a nine-place gain over Burnett by 85 thousandths. Juliusz Ociepa (HUN) took 5th place ahead of Silkunas. Carnejac finished 9th, Langlois 15th (+10 pl) and Grisel 16th (+17 pl).
