Despite the sporting difficulties of an event like the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, the French Team has had a very good run, the best in its history as the 2019 French drivers enabled it to win the Nations Cup for the first time as the leader of the 58 countries present. On the podium with Andy Ratel, Sacha Maguet, Nicolas Picot and Rudy Champion, the French were proud to congratulate Jolan Raccamier on his victory in the Mini Max class. Good performances were recorded at all levels by the 15 Frenchmen competing this year at Sarno.
Mini Max – Compkart: Raccamier wins in front of Ratel
The Mini Max Final proved to be even more challenging than the previous races. Starting from pole position, Andy Ratel lost ground to multiple attacks while Jolan Raccamier returned to second position. The two Frenchmen were 4th and 5th at the beginning of the last lap, but they seized their chance in the Final battle for a formidable French double. Paul Alberto finished strongly in 6th position and Karel Schulz made a significant comeback of seven places to finish 9th.
Junior Max – Praga: Maguet on the second step
The Junior Max Final had not started very well for Sacha Maguet who dropped to 6th place. He didn’t give up and fought valiantly to get back into the lead group. With the tension at its height, Sacha was in the top three and finally took 2nd place. The race was difficult for his Team France team-mates. Noam Abramczyk first moved up to 13th before being pushed on lap 5 so he finished 24th. Enzo Caldaras made good progress up to lap 12, but the end of the race was more turbulent and he finished 26th.
Senior Max – Sodi: the hard law of racing
The challenge was complex for the three Frenchmen in the Senior Max category. After a first lap that was not very encouraging, César Gazeau started an incredible climb of more than 12 places to reach the top 10. On the last lap, another incident relegated him to 14th place. Paul Fourquemin had started strongly from the back of the grid. Despite some inevitable setbacks, he finished 17th with an 11-place gain. Things went wrong straight away for Guillaume Treillard de Quinemont, who was delayed from the first lap. He made up some of his deficit, but a spoiler penalty did not help his ranking.
DD2 – Birel ART : Picot makes the show in 2nd position
Nicolas Picot gave it his all all once again during the DD2 Final. He first defeated his two main opponents before being caught up, then held on to the lead for almost half of the race before losing it honourably in 2nd place. Lucas Joly wasn’t at the party in the last race. Starting 10th in the pack, he couldn’t hold off the many attacks and finished 21st.
DD2 Master – Sodi: Champion on the second step
Rudy Champion wasn’t far from winning, 0.189” to be precise. Constantly in the top three, he faced several high-calibre opponents with pugnacity. He took his 2nd place with determination on the last lap of a great race.
