The 79 drivers of the FIA Karting European Championship at Le Mans contested their qualifiers late Friday afternoon in four groups, alternating with the seniors in the OK category. The temperature was close to 30 degrees.
Martinius Stenshorne (FA Kart / Vortex) set a reference time of 52”883 in the first session. Evan Giltaire (Sodi / TM) was close at 31 thousandths and Marcus Amand (KR / Iame) was 3rd by 4 hundredths ahead of Connor Zilisch and Conrad Laursen (FA Kart / Vortex), five drivers in 73 thousandths.
Ugo Ugochukwu (FA Kart / Vortex) also went under the 53” mark in the second session and set the fastest time with 52”907, relegating Rafael Mondonese (FA Kart / Iame) by 0.123”. Robert De Haan (Energy / TM) was in front of Alfio Spina (KR / Iame) in 3rd position by almost 2 tenths and Marlon Hernandez completed the top five.
Josep Marti (Tony Kart / Vortex) was the fastest of a third series, a little slower with his time of 53”285, but was disqualified afterwards, so Maksim Soldatov (Energy / TM) recovered 1st place with 53”367. Karol Paskiewicz (Kosmic / Vortex) was 2nd by 0.183, against Igor Cepil (KR / Iame) and Akshay Bora (KR / Iame). Enzo Peugeot (Exprit / TM) finished in 5th place, Arthur Rogeon (Tony Kart / Vortex) 7th, Matteo Spirgel (Birel ART / TM) 8th and in an unpleasant surprise, Thomas Ten Brinke (FA Kart / Vortex) 9th by 4 tenths.
Arvid Lindblad (Exprit / TM) was quick to take action in Session 4 with several fastest laps in front of Alexander Dunne (Exprit / Vortex) and improved to 52”967. But Kimi Antonelli (KR / Iame) finished 1st – 52”930. Behind Dunne, Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart / Vortex) was 4th at 83 thousandths followed by Roman Shaparov (Exprit / Vortex).
