Although overcast, the weather was almost dry for the final heats of the Academy Trophy.
Robert De Haan (NLD) immediately took the lead of heat C-D in front of Filip Jenic (SRB), while Bartolomiej Piekutowski (POL) went into a spin. Charlie Wurz (AUT) was 2nd and the slow procedure was started after Eloy Lopez Falcon (MEX) went off. The top three remained grouped after the restart, then De Haan took off and won again as Jenic attacked Wurz for 2nd place. Lucas Staico (BRA) finished 4th ahead of Lucas Bohdanowicz (ARG).
Then a few drops of rain began to fall, Christian Ho (SGP) kept his lead in heat A-B. Paolo Ferrari (ITA) dropped back and Elliott Vayron (FRA) was in 2nd place ahead of Magnus Germansen (DNK). The fight was raging in the pack. Ho prevailed despite the return of Vayron to 0.247 ”, Germansen remained 3rd behind Ferrari and Nicolas Baptiste completed the top five ahead of Maxime Furon-Castelain (LUX). Mattéo Spirgel (FRA) took three places in 11th position with the fastest lap, but a penalty sent him back to 19th.
De Haan consolidated his position as leader with his three victories. Ferrari and Germansen followed him on equal points, Mendes was 4th and Coertze 5th thanks to his great consistency. Vayron was in 10th place, Ho finished 12th ahead of Wurz, Furon-Castelain was 21st, but Spirgel was 40th and didn’t qualify.
