After the rainy night and early morning, the sun gradually returned to Wackersdorf and the track was dry for the Timed Qualifying of the FIA ??Karting European Championship – KZ2 with 75 participants.
Already the fastest in Free Practice, Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART / TM) took the lead in the first session followed by Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart / Vortex) two laps from the end and then achieved an incredible lap in 46”996 with a 3 tenths lead. Senna Van Walstijn (KR / TM) came back to finish 2nd by 0.160” ahead of Tom Leuillet (Praga / Iame) who was 0.206” from Longhi. Andrea Dahlberg (Birel ART / TM) took 4th place and Piccini 5th.
In the second session, Emilien Denner (Sodi / TM) and David Trefilovs (Maranello / TM) were immediately in action. Simone Cunati (CRG / TM) however finished in the lead with a time of 47”092 on his last lap, followed by 52 thousandths by Trefilovs, Emil Skaras (Energy / TM) 3rd and Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart / Vortex) 4th by less than a hundredth and Giacomo Pollini (Formula K / TM) who was 5th in front of Denner. Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / TM) was 12th.
Giuseppe Palomba (Croc Promotions / TM) took the lead in the last session with a superb time of 47”127 which placed him 3rd overall. David Vidales (Tony Kart / Vortex) followed by 0.177″ and Philipp Hall (Tony Kart / TM) by 0.257″. Kristijan Habulin (TB Kart / TM) came in 4th place ahead of Lorenzo Giannoni (Sodi / TM), Pierre Loubere (Birel ART / TM) in 6th and Paul Evrard (Kosmic / Vortex) 7th.
Longhi was in pole position in front of Cunati and Palomba, and Trefilovs and Van Walstijn completed the top five. Leuillet was 8th, Denner 10th, Nomblot 20th, Loubère 28th, Evrard 29th, Besancenez 30th, Hubert Petit (Sodi / TM) was 41st and Flavien Soguel (Oberon / Seven) 74th.
