The 50 drivers in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy took part in their first Timed Practice of the season on a completely dry track as the temperature began to drop at Wackersdorf at the end of the afternoon.
Filip Jenic (SRB) and Christian Ho (SGP) competed for 1st place in the first session. Ho led with a lap of 51.224, followed by only 4 thousandths by Paolo Ferrari (ITA) and Jenic in 3rd by 17 thousandths. Elliott Vayron (FRA) had a good performance finishing 4th, 73 thousandths further back, while Magnus Germansen Daae (DNK) followed close behind Charlie Wurz (AUT). Mattéo Spirgel (FRA) was 15th.
Robert De Haan (NLD) dominated the second session finishing a tenth ahead of Luca Mars (USA), but his time of 51”265 placed him 4th overall. Loïs Delbart (BEL) took 3rd place ahead of Joshua Coertze (ZAF) while Maxime Furon-Castelain (LUX) was back in the top five.
Ho was the first poleman of the season ahead of Ferrari and Jenic, with De Haan and Vayron completing the top five.
