In parallel with the FIA Karting World Championship – KZ, the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2, contested on the Genk circuit (BEL), gathered a beautiful field of more than 100 Drivers from 23 nations and four continents.
The subtle changes in the weather conditions and the grip of the Belgian track during the three days of racing greatly complicated the work for the technical teams, especially the search for effective carburettor settings. The classification of Qualifying Practice already reflected this situation, while the intensity of the Qualifying Heats and some penalties continued to make any prediction difficult, apart from one Driver who constantly dominated the heats.
Vigano: The unstoppable leader
The undisputed leader of the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2, Matteo Vigano (ITA – Tony Kart / Vortex / LeCont) conceded only 3rd place in a Qualifying Heat. Other than that, he won everything from Qualifying Practice to the finishing line of the Final, which he crossed with a comfortable lead to take his first big international success. Daniel Bray (NZL – GP / Alu Group / TM Racing / LeCont) quickly dislodged Adrien Renaudin (FRA – Sodi / TM Racing / LeCont) from 2nd position. The French FIA Karting European Champion – KZ2 resisted the pressure from his opponents as best he could. Gaetano Gomes E.S. Di Mauro (BRA – CRG / TM Racing / LeCont) managed to overtake him two laps before the chequered flag, imitated by David Vidales Ajenjo (ESP – Tony Kart / Vortex / LeCont).
