As KZ is now only present at FIA Karting competitions, regulars in this category race in KZ2 during the various races of the season. There will be 15 at the start of the 24th Winter Cup this weekend at the South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato, an event all the more important as this is where the World Championship will take place in September. It should be added that the tyres will be the same during these two events, from Bridgestone.
The Tony Kart Racing Team will field Marco Ardigo and Simo Puhakka on Tony Kart / Vortex with the winner of the FIA Karting KZ2 International Super Cup Matteo Vigano promoted to KZ this year with Alessio Piccini.
Anthony Abbasse and Bas Lammers (Sodi / TM) will race under the official Sodikart banner with KZ2 European Champion Adrien Renaudin. Marijn Kremers and Alex Irlando (Birel ART / TM) will represent the Birel ART Racing Team, while Paolo De Conto (CRG / TM) will return with the CRG Racing Team and Jérémy Iglesias (Formula K / Iame) with the Formula K Racing Team and a new IAME engine.
The winner in 2018, Ben Hanley (Croc Promotions / TM) will be back in the running this year.
We also note the presence of serious drivers in private teams. Fabian Federer will take the wheel of a Maranello / TM, with the new SRP Racing Team. Always quick at Lonato, Alessio Lorandi will be driving a Parolin / TM for Baby Race Driver Academy, while Andrea Dalé remains faithful to CRG / TM with the Nuova 3M team. Francesco Celenta will be on a Praga / Iame from FD Motors and Yannick De Brabander will race an Intrepid / TM.
Of the absentees, the brothers Pex, Jorrit and Stan (CRG / TM) are not yet on the track, but that will not be for long, as will Rick Dreezen, brilliant Vice-World Champion with Kart Republic. However, World KZ Champion Patrik Hajek does not have a racing programme this year.
