Patrik Hajek (Kosmic / Vortex) made the best start of the KZ European Championship Final on the very wet Kristianstad track after a stormy shower. Marijn Kremers (Birel ART / TM) slid and dropped to 4th while Bas Lammers (Sodi / TM) was 2nd ahead of Paolo De Conto (CRG / TM). Hajek quickly had a comfortable lead against Lammers and De Conto, with Kremers relegated to the lead of the chasing pack with Luca Corberi (Tony Kart / Vortex) in his wake. An epic battle for 5th place was set up in mid-race, allowing Kremers to distance himself. While Simo Puhakka (Kosmic / Vortex) returned to the top five, Lammers significantly reduced his gap to the leader Hajek. But the Czech reacted to protect his 1st place. De Conto watched the manoeuvre 2” away, not worried about his 3rd place, as the 4th, Kremers, was more than 15” behind. Puhakka took advantage in extremis of the battle between Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) and Luca Corberi to take 5th position. Hajek won 1” ahead of Lammers, De Conto finished 3rd to celebrate his already-acquired European title and Kremers regretted his missed start as he finished 4th over 25” from the lead.
Hajek took 2nd place in the championship ahead of Kremers, with Lammers 4th and Stan Pex 5th.
