The sky was overcast at Kristianstad on Friday afternoon for the start of a series of four Qualifying sessions for the KZ2 International Super Cup. The thermometer read 20 ° C, but the wind was refreshing.
Matteo Viganò (Top Kart / Parilla) took control of the 1st session in the last two laps with a time of 49”259 against Francesco Ioccovacci (Luxor / LKE), only 6/100 behind. Max Tubben (CRG / TM) came in 3rd position ahead of Benjamin Törnqvist (CRG / TM) and Alessandro Pelizzari (CKR / TM). Not until the last two minutes of the second session did we see a significant time with Alessandro Irlando (Energy / TM) at the top of the table. But Tommaso Mosca (Maranello / TM) finished ahead by 23 thousandths with 49”279. Lisard Santos Gomez (Croc Promotions / TM) was 3rd ahead of Tom Joyner (Zanardi / Parilla) and Daniel Stell (CRG / Modena), 5th by three tenths.
More sessions took place, and the drivers took the risk of starting late and some reduced their track time to two laps. Felice Tiene (CRG / TM) pulled off the fastest lap so far, with 49”221. Marta Garcia Lopez (Evokart / Parilla) took the 2nd place by two tenths, followed by David Forslöf (Tony Kart / TM), Paolo Ippolito (Lenzo / LKE) and Sean Babington (Energy / Parilla). Francesco Celenta (Formula K / TM) didn’t complete a lap. Pedro Hiltbrand successfully applied the same tactics in the fourth session and took pole position – 49”101 – 0.175 ” ahead of Luca Corberi (Tony Kart / Vortex), John Norris (Tony Kart / Vortex), Tom Leuillet (Sodi / TM) and Paolo Besancenez (Tony Kart / Vortex).
Hiltbrand is the poleman in KZ2 ahead of Tiene and Viganò, with Corberi 4th, Mosca 5th, Irlando 6th, Iaccovacci 7th and Norris 8th.
