Although Dylan Buys retained his leading position in the final of the Academy Trophy at Genk, Marta Garcia Lopez didn’t hesitate in grabbing 2nd place at the expense of Xavier Lloveras Brunet. The two Spaniards were then in the lead, followed by the two French drivers, Theo Nouet and Enzo Coursimault. The Briton Callum Bradshaw was ahead of the Belgians Michelangelo Amendola and Buys and who lost six places at once. Coursimault and Bradshaw went out and gave up on lap five.
Garcia escaped in the lead of the race, Lloveras Brunet could do nothing, and remained vigilant with Nouet 3rd with the very fast Amendola behind him. A few drops of rain began to fall after halfway, without disturbing the proceedings. Nouet yielded to attacks from Amendola and Buys and dropped to 5th. Behind 6th, Murilo Della Coletta, three drivers gained more than 10 places: Alejandro Lopez Lahoz, Zakhar Slutskiy and Rubens Bouchabke. The fight for 3rd place looked tight. Buys and Slutskiy crashed and gave up.
Marta Garcia took a second victory in the Academy this year, making a big step towards the conquest of the Trophy. Lloveras Brunet finished 2nd by nearly 4”, consolidating his 2nd position in the championship. Amendola finally ensured 3rd position ahead of Lopez Lahoz, Della Coletta and Nouet. There was a big gain for Federico Sandre to 11th (18 places recovered).
