It was not easy to reach Portimao, by plane at least, with a pilot strike of the Portuguese national airline TAP. From there, to justify the absence of 14 of the 61 drivers entered in KF, there is probably a big gap that we will not cross. In any case, the figures are relentless, there are 110 participants signed on at the first round of the CIK-FIA European KF & KF-Junior Championship this weekend at the Kartodromo do Algarve instead of the 125 registered .
The most notable absences are Pedro Hiltbrand with injured ribs, and Max Fewtrell in KF. One missing in KF-Junior won’t change anything.
PS: Although we had to wait an hour in Lisbon for TAP to find a pilot to complete the team for the A 319 to Faro, the KSP-Kartcom team arrived safely in it’s second homeland. A big consolation us that in Portugal, it is already summer and it feels good. Good luck to those still stuck in transit or still to depart.
