KZ2 started using the new 2015 spoiler fasteners during the 20th Winter Cup. This was not easy on a twisty circuit like the one at Lonato with these powerful machines, especially as the rain on Saturday morning often required full use of the kerbs. Many spoilers dropped, with penalties of 30” following.
Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) maintained the speed that enabled him to take pole position and was indisputably in the lead with two victories. Paolo De Conto (CRG / Maxter) took second place ahead of Ben Hanley (Croc Promotion / TM), Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM), who was 27th in qualifying put the package back to fourth ahead of Andrea Dale (CRG / Maxter) and Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex), who lost time going off the track while trying to overtake Hanley when he was second.
Another winner was Arnaud Kozlinski (Sodi / TM), who was unfortunately a long way back in his first heat after a crash where he only finished 18th. Marco Zanchetta (Alpha / TM) is 12th, Nicolas Gonzales (Alpha / TM) 14th, vigorously defending the colours of Alpha with CPB Sport, while Thomas Laurent (Tony Kart / Vortex) at Cedric Sport, was 19th after being hit. Hubert Petit (Sodi / TM) was 26th behind Jordon Lennox-Lamb (BirelART / TM) and will avoid the repechage. There is a fight looming for a second chance with some big names like Johansson, Habulin, Corberi and even Fore in 49th.
