There was good weather and it was relatively cool in the shade for the KF-Junior timed qualifying at the 20th Winter Cup at Lonato. The KF-Juniors opened hostilities from 12:15 when the track conditions were changing rapidly in the sun.
Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart / Vortex) monopolised the front of the first group ahead of Marta Garcia (PCR / TM) and Gleb Zotov (Tony Kart / TM). Lorenzo Colombo (Tony Kart / LKE) then took third position, but Zotov responded with the 2nd fastest time while Lundgaard retained a comfortable lead with a time of 45”567. Garcia returned to second by 0.262” from the Danish driver, with Colombo and Zotov 3rd and 4th and the the Norwegian Henrik Bockmann (Tony Kart / TM) 5th. Charles Milesi (Tony Kart / Vortex) posted the 13th time in his group.
Three drivers were below in 46”0 in the second session, Sun Yue Yang (FA Kart / Vortex), Felipe Drugovich (Kosmic / Vortex) and Ivan Shvestov (Tony Kart / Vortex). Only Yue Yang had passed the bar and set a best lap of 45”988. Alessandro Giardelli (Tony Kart / LKE) was second in front of Petr Ptacek (Energy / TM) and Ulysses De Pauw (BirelART / Parilla). Drugovich beat everyone with a time of 45”887 on the last lap.
Logan Sargeant (FA Kart / Vortex) and Rasmus Lindh (Ricciardo / Parilla) competed for the fastest time in the third group, while Timothy Peisselon (Kosmic / Parilla) was 3rd after a fine session. Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (Tony Kart / Vortex) was less prominent early in the session, but made up for it with a sixth fastest time. Lindh dropped below 46”, and took the pole of the group 45”836, followed by Sargeant and Paavo Tonteri (Croc Promotion / TM). Peisselon finished in a superb fourth position, Tom Leuillet (BirelART / Parilla) 9th and Alessandro Brozzoni (PCR / TM) 17th.
Lundgaard took pole in the category ahead of Garcia, with Lindh 3rd, Sargeant 4th and Zotov 5th. Peisselon, the top French driver, found himself 18th, Simmenauer 24rd, Milesi 32nd, Leuillet 34th and Brozzoni 55th.
