After a weekend of testing and racing at La Conca, Bas Lammers still managed to retain his second place in the final standings of the WSK Super Master Series. The team will now learn from this event to come back strongly in the upcoming competitions.
“I have faced many problems during the last meeting of the WSK La Conca circuit,” said the Dutchman. “I was off the mark in qualifying and I was not lucky in the heats. Moving up the rankings proved difficult because of several clashes. It was only in the final I could regain some positions. However, I never gave up and it allowed me to save my second place in the championship, which is still a very positive point. I’m not worried about the upcoming races because I know that we will work hard on the chassis with Formula K, the Parilla engine with Falcon RS – Tec Sav Engineering – and we can fight at the front again for the European Championship starting in mid-May in Belgium.“
A set-up problem had in fact affected the start of the meeting causing the 24th position in qualifying. In the first heat, Lammers’ performance increased dramatically, allowing him to gain 11 places in 12 laps. Unfortunately a dark series of three consecutive retirements until the prefinal ruined his hopes of recovery. It was not until the final that the Dutch driver could again gain ground, 11 places in total, and to fight to keep his 2nd place in the WSK Super Master Series, thanks to a last pass on the last lap.
