Without Jehan Daruvala or Karol Basz, the two championship leaders who didn’t qualify, the KF final of the WSK Super Master Series should have been between Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex) and Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / TM) for the title. However Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla) started from pole, while Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM) would have an influence on the battles between the younger drivers as he has done throughout the weekend.
Ilott stayed in the lead at the start but Lorandi and Hanley dropped to 7th and 8th, Marco Maestranzi (Top Kart / Parilla) was second ahead of Nielsen. Lando Norris, Kevin Rossel, Nikita Sitnikov and Gabriel Aubry were at the back of the pack after several incidents. Niko Kari (Tony Kart / Vortex) took 2nd place ahead of Felice Tiene (CRG / TM) and Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex), and Nielsen dropped to 6th. Hanley and Joyner retired. Julien Darras (Kosmic / Vortex) didn’t miss out at the start of the race, he was now in the top 10. Nielsen attacked Mazepin under braking on lap 7, which affected all of the small group. Kari passed Tiene at the same place on the next lap to gain 2nd place. Lorandi got away from the chasing pack by taking fifth position from Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / TM). Nielsen gave up.
At the halfway point Ilott was in the lead 2.2” in front of Tiene, Kari was 3rd by 5/10, Maestranzi 4th with the same gap and Lorandi had reduced his to 8/10. It took him five laps to get in the wheel tracks of Maestranzi and he then passed, taking fourth position. As Aubry had few laps earlier, Darras retired after a battle between Hannes Janker (Zanardi / Parilla) and Leonardo Pulcini (Energy / TM). Ilott won the final by almost 3.5” ahead of Tiene, Kari remained third with Lorandi was nearly on the podium, but it was not enough for the championship which goes to Ilott.
