The best in the world were in the KZ2 final at the WSK Super Master Series at Sarno. There is also rain, but that’s another story … Bas Lammers (Formula K / Parilla) shared the front row with Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex), Kozlinski (Intrepid / TM) and Rick Dreezen (Zanardi / Parilla) on the second, Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM) and Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM) were on the 3rd. Lammers kept the head, Kozlinski pressured Ardigo for 2nd place, but Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla) who held the place on the first lap from 10th. Ardigo, who had lost ground again was in fourth position ahead of Marco Zanchetta (Maranello / TM), Paolo De Conto (Birel / TM) and Douglas Lundberg (Alpha / TM). Ardigo then moved up, passing Kozlinski for 3rd on lap 3.
Meanwhile, Lammers increased his lead by setting several fastest laps. Ardigo closed on Thonon, and Kozlinski was increasing in performance. Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla) was in 6th ahead of Dreezen and Lundberg. Ardigo passed Thonon for second place before half distance. Then Kozlinski took his rightful 3rd. Ardigo was much faster than his competition. He went after Lammers who had gained a lead of up to 5”. The outcome of the race was uncertain. De Conto and Hajek passed Thonon, now sixth. Ardigo continued pushing, and Lammers gave the maximum. The gap dropped to 2.7” in 4 laps.
Lammers but managed to hold on until he crossed the finish line 2” in front of Ardigo. Kozlinski took a superb 3rd place, with the fastest lap. De Conto finished 4th, Hajek 5th, Dreezen 6th, Thonon 7th, Lundberg 8th, Torsellini 9th and Hanley 10th.
