The Italian CSAI Karting has offered a lot of emotions in all categories during this season. The end came after the fifth round held in Castelletto di Branduzzo (Pavia) and has been really exciting with several title contenders fighting throughout the weekend and a good number of drivers on track that made the championship reach the record figure of 826 participations in the 5 rounds of the calendar, that is a 30% increase compared to last year.
The result of KZ2 has been quite exciting as only the last final in Castelletto decided the winner of the category with Alessandro Giulietti (Intrepid-Tm) surprisingly champion again – for the second time in a row – as he managed to get the position off the leader until Castelletto Massimo Dante (Maranello-Tm).
The outcome of the other categories as been as thrilling too. In KF2 the French driver Julien Darras on Tony Kart-Tm managed to get the title thanks to a very close third place in the first Finale and Alessio Lorandi on Tony Kart-Parilla confirmed himself as KF3 champion for the second year in a row thanks to a win in the first of the two Finals of Castelletto.
The winner of 60 Mini is still to be officially decided as the title is virtually in Nicola Abrusci’s hands (Tony Kart-Lke) due to the higher score. The title is still sub-judice though until a decision of the Appeal Court will be made on the appeal presented by Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo-Lke) in consequence of the victory he was stripped of in Siena. Should the tribunal agree with Fusco’s argumentations, he would be the champion, otherwise Abrusci will have the clearance to start his celebrations.
